This spring, residents are invited to enjoy three free gardening seminars as part of the 2019 Whitby in Bloom Speaker Series.
The seminars, being held on March 27, April 24 and May 22 at the Brooklin United Church, and will feature information on gardening techniques, raised bed gardening and finding peace in the garden. Each event will be presented by a master gardener, including Alexandra Rise, Tara Nolan and Carol Pasternak.
“As a Town, we are committed to sustainability and maintaining Whitby’s green spaces,” said Mayor Don Mitchell. “The Whitby in Bloom Speaker Series will help residents learn how to beautify their outdoor spaces.”
Residents are invited to take part in one or all of the following seminars:
On March 27th, Alexandra Risen presents “How Our Connection to Plants Holds the Secret to Inner Peace”
An inspiring story of how a garden can become a metaphor for life, a source of recovery, growth and insight.
April 24, Tara Nolan presents “Raised Bed Gardening” where attendees will learn how to create your own oasis and about the benefits of raised bed gardens that allow you to garden almost anywhere.
The final seminar on May 22 will be hosted by Carol Pasternak, where she will present “Drama in the Butterfly Garden”. Residents will learn how to focus on the life in your yard. This event will feature a book signing of “How to Raise Monarch Butterflies, a Step-by-Step Guide for Kids.”
