A Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges In Oshawa

A 26-year-old Oshawa man is now facing charges after he was found driving with an open can of beer and in possession of drugs.

On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, in the area of Taunton Road West and Stevenson Road North in Oshawa, Durham Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired license plates. When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed a strong odour of cannabis coming from the vehicle. With further investigation, an open can of beer was found as well as a considerable amount of cannabis and cocaine. The street value of the drugs totaled more than $20,000.

Damien Dionne of Oshawa, is facing numerous charges including with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking for both cannabis and cocaine; failing to provide insurance, and having open alcohol in the vehicle. He is also facing charges of driving without a licence and failing to provide insurance He was held for a bail hearing.
