Ajax High students provide role models for elementary students

Ajax High School has something to be proud of as several of their students recently mentored future leaders at Southwood Park Public School.

The Black Education Student Team (BEST) at Ajax High School is a group of black students whose goal is to inspire future leaders by sharing their experiences with local students. On Friday December 14th grades 11 and 12 members of TEAM facilitated workshops with Grade 7 classes at Southwood Park. The workshops generated awareness and discussion about relevant issues that impact youth, specifically those from marginalized communities. Peer-to-peer mentorship also served to foster relationships between current and prospective students.

Ajax High School is situated in the heart of the town of Ajax, south of Hwy. 401, and just east of the intersections of Harwood Avenue and Bayly Street. The school has a tradition of excellence that dates back to its beginnings in 1956. The current student population of 1174 students reflects the cultural and socio-economic diversity of the community. Approximately 100 teachers and support staff are committed to providing a safe, welcoming environment where high educational standards flourish.

Student co-curricular activities include a full range of sports, drama productions, art shows, fashion shows, café forums, and music nights as well as activities such as very successful Improv and School Reach teams.
