BACD events include small business taxes, professional headshot day and social media makeover

The Business Advisory Centre Durham (BACD) has announced their upcoming lineup for entrepreneurial development that includes plenty for new and mature business owners.

Professional Headshot Day is on Feb. 1, with photos by Jill Hamilton Photography. This is an opportunity to get a headshot with two digital images done by a professional photographer for only $60. Photo time slots are every 15 minutes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Social Media Makeover with Antoinette Burrell, from Kismet Digital, is on Feb. 7 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. For only $20, learn how to optimize social media profiles, create a unique brand and discover the dos and don’ts for creating professional profiles on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.

The Legal Kit: Protect Your Business Online is being presented by Pavel Malysheuski, from Lockyear + Hein law firm, on Feb. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. The $20 workshop will cover electronic commerce agreements such as privacy statements, terms of use and Canada’s anti-spam law. This information is a must for any business with a website or e-commerce site.

Employment Standards Act Overview presented by employment standards officer Nahid Almashni is on Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Get the lowdown on employees vs. independent contractors, wages, hours of work, overtime, vacation and holiday pay, leaves of absence, termination and severance, tips and gratuities and temp agencies.
