An SUV stolen at gunpoint on Feb.12 was involved in a motor vehicle collision last night and then abandoned.
On February 21, 2019 at approximately 11:20 p.m., officers were called to a residence on Magill Drive in Ajax regarding a fail-to-remain motor vehicle collision. A white Lexus SUV was travelling northbound on Coles Avenue at a high rate of speed when it failed to stop at a stop sign.
The vehicle mounted the curb, struck down a school crossing sign and drove into a vehicle parked in a residential driveway on Magill Drive. The force of that collision pushed the parked vehicle into a second parked vehicle in the same driveway and also resulted in damage to the closed garage door.
A witness reported seeing a male run from the scene carrying what looked like a briefcase. The suspect is described as a male, black, about 5’6″ tall with a slender build, wearing all black. He was last seen running southbound on Coles Avenue.
The investigation confirmed the SUV was the same vehicle stolen at gunpoint at the Westney Heights Plaza in Ajax on February 12, 2019. The investigation is continuing. Damage to all three vehicles and the garage door is considered moderate.
