Doors Open Ajax September 29 to include historic estate

Doors Open Ajax is an annual day-long celebration of the finest buildings, creative spaces and architecturally relevant sites in Ajax. This year the event takes place Saturday September 29th. The 2018 tour includes eleven sites, highlighted by an opportunity to visit the jewel of Pickering Village, Heritage House Estate.

Heritage House is an historic estate built for Dr. Byron Field in 1911 that includes a culinary display in the carriage house and garden games for the kids during Doors Open, The other ten sites are
Ajax Downs, Ajax Fire Headquarters, Ajax Operations Centre, Axalta Coating Systems, Falcon Brewery, Friends Cemetery, Hartirck House, Lexus of Lakeridge, Pickering Village Walking Tour and St. George’s Anglican Church and Cemetery.

This is a free community event for all ages – no tickets or registrations are required. Begin at any featured site and visit as many as you like, in any order. Visits may be self directed or as part of a small group tour. Some sites feature activities, displays and entertainment. Start early, and be prepared, as there may be lineups getting to popular sites.
