Five suspects were arrested after holding a man and woman overnight against their will in an Oshawa residence.
In the morning of Wednesday, March 27, 2019, a 34-year-old male reported to police that he and his girlfriend had been held overnight, against their will, at a residence on Toronto Avenue in Oshawa regarding an unpaid debt. The male victim was eventually released and was able to call police. Durham Officers, with support from the Durham Police K-9 Unit and the Tactical Support Unit, surrounded the residence on Wednesday March 27 at approximately 5 p.m. and attempted to communicate with those still inside. Eventually, four suspects were arrested at the residence and the female victim was located with minor injuries.
The fifth suspect, identified as Faarsan Ibrahim, was located later in a vehicle at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, in the area of Brock Street and Hwy. 401 in Whitby. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle as it tried to enter the wrong way on Highway 401. The suspect rammed a police vehicle, knocking it into a ditch. The suspect was eventually arrested and charged for the above incident. One officer sustained minor injuries and was later released from hospital.
Hassan Saeed, age 26, of Rich Crescent in Whitby is charged with two counts of forcible confinement; failure to comply with probation order, and obstructing a Peace Officer, among other charges.
Tina Baker, age 40 of No Fixed Address is charged with 2 counts of Forcible Confinement, and failure to comply with a probation order.
Rashid Plumber, age 25, and also of No Fixed Address is charged with 2 counts of Forcible Confinement, as well as assault with a weapon.
Heidi Bendroratis, age 40 of Old Scugog Road in Scugog is charged with two counts of Forcible Confinement, as well as other charges.
The fifth suspect who was later arrested on Thursday, Faarsan Ibrahim, age 21 of Midland Avenue in Toronto is also charged with two counts of Forcible Confinement, as well as evading police, resisting arrest, and among other charges he was also charges with having Methamphetamine in his possession with the purposes of trafficking.
They were all held for a bail hearing.
