The Oshawa Generals got their man.
The OHL club recently announced Finnish forward Oliver Suni has committed to a standard OHL player agreement. The Kempele, Finland native was Oshawa’s first-round selection in the 2019 CHL Import Draft held in June.
The six-foot-two, 178-pound forward had 19 goals and 17 assists for 36 points in 23 games with Karpat Oulu in Finland during the 2018-19 season.
“We are very happy to have a top, young prospect such as Oliver to join our team,” Generals vice president and general manager Roger Hunt said. “Oliver will come to us with international experience and will look to make an impact here on North American ice heading into his NHL draft season.”
Suni had three assists in six games for Finland at the Under-17 World Hockey Challenge and is representing his home country currently at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. The forward will join the Generals when training camp opens late this month.
