There is pop, rock, country and everything in between at the weekly Music Madness for adults with autism and their families. Join Autism Home Base Durham for singing, claping and groovin’ to the beats at this weekly jam session, led by a professional music therapist, and appropriate for all skill levels and abilities. The fun takes place 6pm Thursdays at the Newcastle Town Hall until December 6.
For those with autism, without shared experiences and new relationships, routines become stagnant and oppressive. Side by side sharing some fun, conversations and connections happen naturally with others who immediately relate.
Autism Home Base Durham evolved from a parent group that started meeting in 2007 to talk about what the future might hold for their autistic children once they were out of school. It is now a registered charity that provides social and recreational programs for adults with autism and their family caregivers in Durham Region. They imagine adults with autism and their caregivers leading full, multidimensional lives surrounded and supported by a sensitive, educated community
