Lakeridge physician honoured with national education award

Dr. Randy Wax has been selected by the Canadian Association for Medical Education (CAME) to receive a 2018 Certificate of Merit Award, recognizing excellence and commitment to medical education.

Dr. Wax is the Regional Director of Clinical Education at Lakeridge Health, where he oversees the training of more than 240 medical students and residents from Queen’s University each year at the hospital. 

“Randy is extremely passionate about teaching and has devoted much of his career to generously sharing his knowledge and expertise with others,” said Dr. George Buldo, VP of Medical and Academic Affairs at Lakeridge Health. “He has been a major driving force behind our Academic Mission and the growth of our cutting-edge LHEARN Centre and I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition.”

As Regional Director of Clinical Education, Dr. Wax leads the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development education programs of Queen’s University Faculty of Health Sciences at Lakeridge Health.

Dr. Wax and other winners of the 2018 Certificates of Merit from across Canada were officially recognized at the Canadian Conference on Medical Education on Saturday, April 28, 2018, in Halifax.
