Library launches summer reading challenge

TGIS (Thank Goodness It’s Summer) is the Pickering Public Library’s annual summer reading challenge for teens 13-19 years old. Read books, earn ballots, and win prizes.

Teens between 13 and 19, can register to participate. Participants can read and review any book (including graphic novels) and write a short review of 100 to 300 words.

Teens can earn ballots for every 100 pages read, and by attending summer Teen programs. Ballots earned can be entered in the online TGIS Elite Draw on September 10 at 6 p.m. for the chance to win an array of prizes.

Important Dates:

  • June 29, Registration & Reporting Open at 9:30 a.m.
  • July 2, TGIS Launch Hangout 6-8 p.m.
  • September 1, TGIS Reporting Ends at 5 p.m.
  • September 10, Elite Draw and Wrap Up, 6-8 p.m.

TGIS encourages teens to read, review books, track reading progress, and share learnings with staff and friends and is a great way to stay connected. Details at picnet.org/tgis.
