Three adults and one male teen are facing numerous charges after a robbery and fraud investigation concluded last week resulting in the seizure of a gun and counterfeit money.
On Friday, March 1, 2019, members of the Major Crime – Robbery and Fraud Units with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit and other investigative bureaus executed several search warrants at residences in Pickering, Ajax and Oshawa as part of this investigation.
The suspect Ritchy Francis, and the 17-year-old male are responsible for an armed robbery at a Subway restaurant in Ajax on February 24, 2019.
A loaded.38 calibre firearm and approximately $8,000 in counterfeit $20 Canadian bills were seized during the execution of the search warrants.
Francis, age 18, of Oshawa is charged with several offences including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm Obtained by crime, and possessing instruments for the use of counterfeiting .
A 17-year-old male teen from Ajax is facing charges of possession of counterfeit money, obstruction of police, and two counts of attempted fraud.
Kaila Cummins, 19, of Pickering is facing charges of Fraud Under $5,000; Possession of Counterfeit Money; as well as dangerous weapons charges.
Paul Fernandez, age 21, of Ajax is facing charges of with failing to Comply with Recognizance and Possession of Counterfeit Money.
All four were held for a bail hearing. A photo of the items seized is attached.
