Mayor for a Day contest

The City of Oshawa is proud to once again participate in Local Government Week, celebrated province-wide between October 20 – 26.

The goal of Local Government week is to highlight the key role that Ontario municipal governments have in helping to define the programs, services and physical make-up of the City, but also the character, culture and environment that makes Oshawa so unique.

Oshawa’s 2019 Local Government Week includes the Mayor for a Day contest and awareness campaign.

Available for Oshawa students in grades 5, 6, and 7, the Mayor for a Day contest asks interested students to write a letter explaining why they would like to be mayor for a day and to detail their vision for the future of Oshawa. Submissions are due by midnight, Friday, November 1, 2019.

The winner will be notified via their school official on November 7 and will enjoy many exciting privileges, including having the mayor attend their school, a private tour of City Hall, lunch with the Mayor at their favourite Oshawa restaurant, and more.
