An enthusiastic crowd tipped their hats to Medallion Corporation’s first Vision tower at a topping off ceremony celebrating big changes coming to Downtown Ajax. Mayor Steve Parish, Ajax Council and Medallion executives made history by launching the new landmark development with Medallion’s final signature on the foundational wall. Celebrating the momentous occasion, the event featured a larger-than-life top hat cake and drum line performance by the Hitmen.
A first-of-its-kind project for the Durham region, the dynamic mixed-use development will feature a rental tower adjacent to Pat Bayly Square. The convenient location provides future residents direct access to the new civic center, a planned venue for cultural celebrations and a public skating rink.
“Support from the surrounding community and the Ajax Council has been astounding,” said Aaron Bleeman, Project Manager for Medallion. “This topping off of our first building brings us one step closer to realizing Ajax’s ambitions.”
Designed by award-winning architects Page & Steele/IBI Group, Vision will feature an ice skating rink that transforms into a reflective pool in the summer, water fountain installation and multi-functional space for public gatherings and celebrations.
“This unprecedented development will act as the gateway to Downtown Ajax. Our vision of an urban, pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use vibrant downtown will soon be a reality,” said Mayor Parish.
