Premier Doug Ford recently announced his cabinet that includes two prominent Durham Region representatives.
GTA cabinet appointments from the Region of Durham include President of the Treasury Board, Peter Bethlenfalvy from Pickering-Uxbridge and Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, Rod Phillips from Ajax.
Before his election, Peter was Chief Investment and Risk Officer at CST Consultants, Senior Vice President, financial regulations at Manulife Financial, and President and Chief Operating Officer of TD Securities (USA).
Prior to his election, Rod was President and CEO of Shepell.fgi, and chair of the Board of Directors of Postmedia, Canada’s largest news media company. Phillips has also served on the Telus Toronto Community Board since 2005, which has donated $8 million to 479 charities and grassroots projects in the Toronto area.
GTA cabinet members appointed from York Region include Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and Deputy Premier, Christine Elliott from Newmarket-Aurora and Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs, Caroline Mulroney from York-Simcoe.
The long-standing GTA representative from Dufferin-Caledon in the Region of Peel, Sylvia Jones has been appointed Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.
