Oshawa launches multi-residential voting pilot program

In an effort to improve access to the voting process for Oshawa renters, the City is launching a voting program in select multi-residential buildings as part of this year’s 2018 Municipal and School Board elections.

Residents of the selected buildings will receive a letter from the City mid-September detailing arrangements, including details around timing and other voting options available, in place of a voter notification card. The information letter will also detail their voting location on Voting Day: Monday, October 22, 2018.

Residents of the following buildings are invited to cast their ballot between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on the corresponding dates:

The multi-residential pilot program is a city-wide initiative that aims to reduce barriers to voting and further civic engagement.

Pilot program invitations were sent to each Oshawa multi-residential that met the following requirements: had 100 or more units; an appropriate and accessible space to allow for voting; and had the consent to participate from property management.

This pilot program will be evaluated following the 2018 Municipal and School Board elections to identify opportunities to improve and expand for the 2022 Municipal and School Board elections.s

Residents of the selected multi-residential units may also cast their vote at any of the advance voting locations throughout the city, regardless of the ward in which they reside:
