Oshawa Little Theatre provides an increasingly diverse audience with consistently high-quality, excellent value live performances, education and mentoring in a lovely performing arts facility. For more than 60 years the theatre has provided a community entertainment platform and developed theatrical talent of all ages. Two new performances will grace the stage in the new year, Office Hours and Footloose.
Office Hours runs January 31st through February 16th. It’s a Friday afternoon in the big city and, in six different offices, six different stories are unfolding at the same time. It makes you laugh at humanity, cleverly linking an overweight jockey, a demoted TV news reporter, a desperate movie producer, a philandering agent, a gay entertainment lawyer with an over-bearing mother, a salesman, and an analyst with a client perched on her window ledge.
Footloose runs March 28 through April 13. Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, and are faced with rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher. When the Reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. This is a heartfelt story of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.
