Oshawa’s Peony Festival makes Top 100 in Ontario for seventh consecutive year

The City of Oshawa’s Peony Festival has earned its place in the 2019 Top 100 Festivals & Events in Ontario list. This is the seventh consecutive year that Oshawa’s Peony Festival has been awarded the Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario designation for excelling within the industry.

The popular Peony Festival attracts over 7,000 visitors to the city for one weekend in June each year, when the flowers make their grand return every year during springtime. With competitive judging by the Canadian Peony Society, the event features over 300 colourful peony collections that reach full bloom across multiple gardens. .

“This year is a special year for our Peony Festival, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever. Come and see why!” said Councillor Rick Kerr, Chair of the Community Services Committee

The 2019 Peony Festival will celebrate the festival’s 15th anniversary and takes place on Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16 at the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens, 155 Arena Street. Hosted by the City, this free event displays 300 types of peonies in the gardens. Artisans, live music, gardening advice, a judged Peony Show, bonsai display, children’s garden, an art competition and photo contest are all part of the festival.
