Pickering municipal election details and candidates

Elections for municipal government in Ontario are held every four years on the fourth Monday of October. The next municipal election will be held Monday, October 22, 2018, with polls open from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

A Voter Notification Card was mailed to every household and to every eligible elector in early October, advising designated voting place. You can bring your voter notification card, but you will also require photo ID.

Pickering mayoral candidates include Bert Cortez, Wesley Henry, Eileen Higdon and Dave Ryan.

Candidates for Regional Councillor – Ward 1 include Kevin George Ashe, Usha Chahar, Robert Jones and Musa Mansuar. Candidates for Regional Councillor – Ward 2 are McLEAN, Bill McLean and Gary Hugh Strange. Candidates for Regional Councillor – Ward 3 are David Pickles and Peter Rodrigue

Candidates for City Councillor – Ward 1 are Maurice Brenner, Haidar Furozuni, Nancy Granados, Tony Harold, Lisa Robinson and Clyde Taffe. Candidates for City Councillor – Ward 2 are Ian Cumming, Dave Currie, Tanya Foster and Sari Sarieddine. Candidates for City Councillor – Ward 3 are Javed Akhtar, Shaheen Butt, Ali Naqvi, Nadia Peerzada and Damian Williams.

Pickering residents will also help elect a Durham Regional Chair for the first time. Candidates for the Regional Chair include Tom Dingwall, John Henry, John Mutton, Peter Neal and Muhammad Ahsin Sahi.
