After 35 years, the Pickering Recreation Complex is about to undergo a makeover. Residents have an opportunity to provide their input on the plans at an open house from 7 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 23 at the Pickering Recreation Complex. The complex is located at 1867 Valley Farm Road, south of Kingston Road, and north of Pickering Parkway; west of Brock Road and east of Liverpool Road
The City of Pickering has hired Barry Bryan Associates to conduct architectural and engineering design services for the renovations. The work includes complete design and consulting services for main floor renovations of the existing concourse, change rooms, staff offices and service counters, related security and accessibility upgrades, the main entrance and the exterior entrance.
Over the past four months, city staff have been diligently collecting feedback from stakeholders and general facility users through consultation sessions and review of online surveys. The first set of schematic designs will be unveiled to the public at the open house. This is an ideal opportunity for Pickering residents and facility users to share their thoughts on the design before the detailed design phase of the project is completed.
Construction will occur in stages to minimize disruption to ongoing operations and is anticipated to begin in late 2019.
