A grandma is facing impaired driving charges after officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the Athold and Dunlop streets area of Whitby on Monday.
The 54-year-old had her 14-month-old grandson in the vehicle with her.
Investigators say the suspect lost control of her red SUV, which resulted in the vehicle driving through a fence. The woman tried to continue to driving but was unable to due to the significant damage the vehicle sustained.
Once emergency crews were on scene, the little boy was taken to hospital but he is expected to make a full recovery.
The woman is facing three charges, including fail to remain. She was released from police custody on a promise to appear.
