As the Durham Regional Police Body-Worn Camera (BWC) Pilot Project continues, Police are inviting members of the public to a virtual town hall where they will have the opportunity to ask questions and chat with members of the BWC team.
The virtual town hall will take place on the Durham Police Twitter account (@DRPS) on Thursday March 21, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Members of the BWC team will be available to address any questions you might have and to provide educational information about the BWCs and the pilot project. Be sure to follow along with the hashtag #BWCDRPS.
The year-long BWC project began last June with officers from two platoons in West Division, Regional Traffic Enforcement and members of the Festive R.I.D.E. team equipped with BWCs. These small, audio-video recording devices are attached to officers vests to provide a record of their interactions with the public.
For information about the virtual town hall , please contact Durham Police Media Relations at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 4346. For further information about the BWC project, please send any email inquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org
