Public consultation begins on Pickering heritage and community centre

The City of Pickering will be hosting public consultation meetings to gather input on the design of the Pickering Heritage & Community Centre.

The Pickering Heritage & Community Centre will combine services from the Pickering Museum Village, the archives and local history collection of the Pickering Library, and recreation and sport services and amenities from the Greenwood Community Centre into one dynamic facility.

The City of Pickering is committed to community engagement, by consulting with residents and stakeholders on the development and delivery of services. Accordingly, plans for the new community centre will be developed in consultation with Pickering residents, Greenwood Community Centre users and other relevant stakeholders, museum volunteers, library users, and museum guests.

Residents are invited to share their thoughts in shaping the design of the new centre through an online survey at pickeringmuseumvillage.ca, or in person public consultations at Greenwood Community Centre located at 3551 Greenwood Road on Monday, January 21st at 7 pm or at George Ashe Community Centre located at 470 Kingston Road on Tuesday, January 22nd, at 7 pm. Please RSVP your attendance at communityservices@pickering.ca or at 905.420.4660 ext. 3606 by January 18th. RSVP is not required but is encouraged.

Updates for the project will be posted at pickeringmuseumvillage.ca.
