Two people were transported to hospital, one with serious injuries, from a two-vehicle collision on Jan. 25 in Ajax.
At approximately 6:28 p.m., police officers were called to Taunton Road East and Middlecote Drive in Ajax with reports of the collision. A black BMW X3, driven by a 29-year-old Ajax man, entered the intersection of Taunton Road East and Middlecote Drive. A blue four-door Volvo, operated by a 27-year-old Ajax man, travelling eastbound on Taunton Road East entered the intersection and struck the BMW. The driver of the BMW sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Volvo was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and was later transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre via Ornge Air ambulance for further treatment.
Members of the Durham Police Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected. The investigation is ongoing. Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision.
