A Scarborough man was taken to a Toronto trauma centre after a serious, single-vehicle collision in Oshawa Friday night.
On Friday, March 1, 2019 at approximately 8:25 p.m., officers were called to Simcoe Street South near Bloor Street in south Oshawa regarding a single vehicle collision. Officers located a blue BMW stopped at the base of a concrete light standard, which had been knocked over as a result of the collision. An unconscious 31-year-old man was in the driver’s seat. Emergency personnel removed him and he was transported him to a nearby hospital. The man was later transferred to a Toronto trauma centre with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses reported the blue BMW was travelling at a high rate of speed northbound on Simcoe Street when the vehicle lost control, turned sideways and then struck the light standard, severing it at the base. No other vehicle was involved in the collision and no other injuries reported.
