Suspect Arrested After Fleeing from Police in Whitby

Officers arrested a male, with the help of Air1, after he failed to stop for police in Whitby Saturday evening.

At approximately 12:15 a.m., on Saturday, March 9, 2019, a Duty Inspector attempted to stop a vehicle near Brock Street and Dundas Street in Whitby. The suspect who was operating a grey four door Chevrolet, failed to stop and drove off at a high rate of speed in nearby residential streets, losing the officers. The suspect was then observed by Air1 in the area of Beech Street and officers took the suspect into custody. The suspect attempted to flee from arresting officers, but was taken into custody.

Berek Cox, a resident of Greenvalley Trail in Oshawa, is facing several changes including flight from police, 4 counts of failing to comply with his probation order, and impaired driving. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
