Suspect Attempts to Evade Police in North Whitby

A suspect was arrested after he failed to stop for police in north Whitby Thursday Night.

On Thursday, March 22, 2019, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Police were conducting an investigation into stolen license plates and an obstruction on a roadway. Officers arrived a home on Halls Road North and attempted to stop the suspect who was driving away. The officers activated their lights; however, the suspect drove around them failing to stop. Officers were eventually able to stop the vehicle and the driver was arrested.

Officers also found home-made obstructions made from wood and nails on the roadway to deter police from entering the dead end street near the home of the suspect.

Jasson Veilleux, age 27, of Halls Road North is facing numerous charges including evading police; dangerous weapons offences; operating a vehicle without insurance; and property obtained by crime.  He was released on a Promise to Appear.
