You can help develop first ever age-friendly community plan in Pickering

The City of Pickering, working in collaboration with urbanMetrics inc., is implementing an innovative and proactive age friendly community plan to meet the dynamic needs of the growing population of older adults and their caregivers. The plan will ensure that older adults are appropriately recognized and have access to the programs and services they require to stay active, healthy, and engaged in their local community.

The Plan is intended to align with the eight dimensions of an age friendly community, as defined by the World Health Organization, which include transportation, housing, social participation, respect and social inclusion, civic participation and employment, communication, community support and health services and outdoor spaces and buildings.

You are invited to assist in the development of the plan by attending a Public Open House Tuesday, November 27, in Council Chambers at the Pickering Civic Complex. Sessions are 2–3:30 pm or 7–8:30 pm.

If you are interested, you can also complete a survey online at pickering.ca/agefriendly or drop by and pick up a hard copy at any City community centre. If you are 55 years of age or older, your thoughts and insight on aging well in Pickering would be very much appreciated.
